What is architectural lighting?

The definition most accepted in the commercial lighting industry is the illumination of building interiors and exteriors. While very strict schools of design may use this term only to refer to exterior building lighting, we favor the more general definition on the basis of practicality. Without conscious, deliberate planning, the interior of many types of buildings would be inadequately lit to the detriment of both human welfare and operating costs.
