How Trough Gardening Save You Time & Money

How Trough Gardening Save You Time & Money
Trough gardening allows you to garden on a miniature level using all the elements of a larger garden. Vegetation of all types can be added to these containers so long as it will hardily grow within the confines of the space. Rocks, gravel, and decorative elements can also be added to emulate the more prevalent styles of garden design found in the majority of Houston landscaping plans.

These small gardens were first planted in England by a man in the mountains who used limestone animal troughs as planters. These original trough gardens were used to grow alpine plants at first. Later, they were used to miniaturize traditional English garden design and to provide herb growers with a convenient way of separating various types of medicinal and culinary herbs.

Today, trough gardening can be integrated into any style of Houston landscaping. In many ways, it offers certain advantages over traditional gardens because the containers themselves add an element of vertical impact to plants that would otherwise appear less noticeable because they grow much lower to the ground.
